The Jews therefore marveled, saying,“ How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”

The Jews there were amazed and asked,“ How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”

The Jews therefore marveled, saying,“ How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?”

The people were surprised when they heard him.“ How does he know so much when he hasn’t been trained?” they asked.

Then the Jews were amazed and said,“ How is this man so learned, since he hasn’t been trained?”

The Jews then were astonished, saying,“ How has this man become learned, not having been educated?”

And the Jews marveled, saying,“ How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”

The Jews therefore marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

Then the Jews were amazed and said,“ How does He know the Scriptures, since He hasn’t been trained?”

And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said,“ How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?”

All testified about him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said,“ Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

The officers answered,“ No man ever spoke like this man!”

All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

Coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said,“ Where did this man get this wisdom, and these mighty works?

When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.

Then Amos answered Amaziah,“ I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs;and Yahweh took me from following the flock, and Yahweh said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him,“ Who are you?”

He is‘ the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

As he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice,“ Paul, you are crazy! Your great learning is driving you insane!”

When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying,“ Where did this man get these things?” and,“ What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands?Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judah, and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” They were offended at him.

When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another,“ Behold, aren’t all these who speak Galileans?How do we hear, everyone in our own native language?Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia,Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking in our languages the mighty works of God!”They were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying to one another,“ What does this mean?”Others, mocking, said,“ They are filled with new wine.”

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching,for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes.
