Then the Jews were amazed and said,“ How does He know the Scriptures, since He hasn’t been trained?”

The Jews there were amazed and asked,“ How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”

The Jews there were amazed. They asked,“ How did this man learn so much without being taught?”

The Jews therefore marveled, saying,“ How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?”

The people were surprised when they heard him.“ How does he know so much when he hasn’t been trained?” they asked.

Then the Jews were amazed and said,“ How is this man so learned, since he hasn’t been trained?”

The Jews then were astonished, saying,“ How has this man become learned, not having been educated?”

And the Jews marveled, saying,“ How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”

The Jews therefore marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said,“ How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?”

The Jews therefore marveled, saying,“ How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”

They were all speaking well of Him and were amazed by the gracious words that came from His mouth, yet they said,“ Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

The police answered,“ No man ever spoke like this!”

And all those who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers.

He went to His hometown and began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said,“ How did this wisdom and these miracles come to Him?

When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left Him and went away.

So Amos answered Amaziah,“ I was not a prophet or the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman, and I took care of sycamore figs.But the Lord took me from following the flock and said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’”

This is John’s testimony when the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him,“ Who are you?”

This Jesus is the stone rejected by you builders, which has become the cornerstone.There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people, and we must be saved by it.”

As he was making his defense this way, Festus exclaimed in a loud voice,“ You’re out of your mind, Paul! Too much study is driving you mad!”

When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished.“ Where did this man get these things?” they said.“ What is this wisdom given to Him, and how are these miracles performed by His hands?Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t His sisters here with us?” So they were offended by Him.

And when the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.

And they were astounded and amazed, saying,“ Look, aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?How is it that each of us can hear in our own native language?Parthians, Medes, Elamites; those who live in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,Cretans and Arabs— we hear them speaking the magnificent acts of God in our own languages.”They were all astounded and perplexed, saying to one another,“ What could this be?”But some sneered and said,“ They’re full of new wine!”

When Jesus had finished this sermon, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,because He was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes.
