The Jews therefore marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

The Jews there were amazed and asked,“ How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”

The Jews therefore marveled, saying,“ How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?”

The people were surprised when they heard him.“ How does he know so much when he hasn’t been trained?” they asked.

Then the Jews were amazed and said,“ How is this man so learned, since he hasn’t been trained?”

The Jews then were astonished, saying,“ How has this man become learned, not having been educated?”

And the Jews marveled, saying,“ How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”

Then the Jews were amazed and said,“ How does He know the Scriptures, since He hasn’t been trained?”

And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said,“ How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?”

The Jews therefore marveled, saying,“ How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”

And all bare him witness, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth: and they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

The officers answered, Never man so spake.

and all that heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

And coming into his own country he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

And when they heard it, they marvelled, and left him, and went away.

Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a dresser of sycomore- trees:and Jehovah took me from following the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent unto him from Jerusalem priests and Levites to ask him, Who art thou?

He is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner.And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.

And as he thus made his defence, Festus saith with a loud voice, Paul, thou art mad; thy much learning is turning thee mad.

And when the sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, Whence hath this man these things? and, What is the wisdom that is given unto this man, and what mean such mighty works wrought by his hands?Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended in him.

And when the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying, Behold, are not all these that speak Galilæans?And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born?Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judæa and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia,in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God.And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, What meaneth this?But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching:for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
