There was a lot of grumbling about him among the crowds. Some were saying,“ He is a good man,” but others,“ He deceives the common people.”

Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said,“ He is a good man.” Others replied,“ No, he deceives the people.”

And there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. Some said,“ He is good”; others said,“ No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.”

And there was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him: some said, He is a good man; others said, Not so, but he leadeth the multitude astray.

And there was a lot of discussion about Him among the crowds. Some were saying,“ He’s a good man.” Others were saying,“ No, on the contrary, He’s deceiving the people.”

When they heard these words, some of the crowd began to say,“ This really is the Prophet!”Others said,“ This is the Christ!” But still others said,“ No, for the Christ doesn’t come from Galilee, does he?Don’t the scriptures say that the Christ is a descendant of David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”So there was a division in the crowd because of Jesus.

Then some of the Pharisees began to say,“ This man is not from God, because he does not observe the Sabbath.” But others said,“ How can a man who is a sinner perform such miraculous signs?” Thus there was a division among them.

Then the Pharisees answered,“ You haven’t been deceived too, have you?

The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about Jesus, so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.

Then some of the residents of Jerusalem began to say,“ Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?Yet here he is, speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to him. Do the rulers really know that this man is the Christ?But we know where this man comes from. Whenever the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from.”

Do everything without grumbling or arguing,

Now there was a man named Joseph who was a member of the council, a good and righteous man.

They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, because the crowds regarded him as a prophet.

Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God and said,“ Certainly this man was innocent!”

and said,“ Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said,‘ After three days I will rise again.’

It is enough for the disciple to become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house‘ Beelzebul,’ how much more will they defame the members of his household!

Fear seized them all, and they began to glorify God, saying,“ A great prophet has appeared among us!” and“ God has come to help his people!”

When Jesus came to the area of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,“ Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”They answered,“ Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”He said to them,“ But who do you say that I am?”Simon Peter answered,“ You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

The good person out of the good treasury of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury produces evil, for his mouth speaks from what fills his heart.

Jesus said to him,“ Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.

because he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and a significant number of people were brought to the Lord.

They replied,“ You aren’t from Galilee too, are you? Investigate carefully and you will see that no prophet comes from Galilee!”[[

Another sharp division took place among the Jewish people because of these words.Many of them were saying,“ He is possessed by a demon and has lost his mind! Why do you listen to him?”Others said,“ These are not the words of someone possessed by a demon. A demon cannot cause the blind to see, can it?”

( For rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person perhaps someone might possibly dare to die.)

Now when the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus performed, they began to say to one another,“ This is certainly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
