Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said,“ He is a good man.” Others replied,“ No, he deceives the people.”

Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying,“ This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying,“ How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And there was dissension among them.

The Pharisees then replied to them,“ You have not been led astray too, have you?

The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest Him.

So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying,“ Is this man not the one whom they are seeking to kill?And yet look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they?However, we know where this man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from.”

Do all things without complaining or arguments;

And a man named Joseph, who was a member of the Council, a good and righteous man

And although they sought to arrest Him, they feared the crowds, since they considered Him to be a prophet.

Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began praising God, saying,“ This man was in fact innocent.”

and they said,“ Sir, we remember that when that deceiver was still alive, He said,‘ After three days I am rising.’

It is enough for the disciple that he may become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they insult the members of his household!

Fear gripped them all, and they began glorifying God, saying,“ A great prophet has appeared among us!” and,“ God has visited His people!”

Now when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples,“ Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”And they said,“ Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah, or one of the other prophets.”He* said to them,“ But who do you yourselves say that I am?”Simon Peter answered,“ You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

But Jesus said to him,“ Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.

for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and faith. And considerable numbers were added to the Lord.

They answered and said to him,“ You are not from Galilee as well, are you? Examine the Scriptures, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.”

Dissension occurred again among the Jews because of these words.Many of them were saying,“ He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?”Others were saying,“ These are not the words of one who is demon possessed. A demon cannot open the eyes of those who are blind, can it?”

For one will hardly die for a righteous person; though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die.

Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said,“ This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
