Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said,“ He is a good man.” Others replied,“ No, he deceives the people.”

And there was a great deal of talk about Him in secret among the crowds: some were saying,“ He is a good man”; others were saying,“ No, on the contrary, He is misleading the people.”

And there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. Some said,“ He is good”; others said,“ No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.”

And there was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him: some said, He is a good man; others said, Not so, but he leadeth the multitude astray.

Therefore some of the Pharisees said,“ This man is not from God, for He doesn’t keep the Sabbath!” But others were saying,“ How can a sinful man perform such signs?” And there was a division among them.

Then the Pharisees responded to them:“ Are you fooled too?

The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple police to arrest Him.

Some of the people of Jerusalem were saying,“ Isn’t this the man they want to kill?Yet, look! He’s speaking publicly and they’re saying nothing to Him. Can it be true that the authorities know He is the Messiah?But we know where this man is from. When the Messiah comes, nobody will know where He is from.”

Do everything without grumbling and arguing,

There was a good and righteous man named Joseph, a member of the Sanhedrin,

Although they were looking for a way to arrest Him, they feared the crowds, because they regarded Him as a prophet.

When the centurion saw what happened, he began to glorify God, saying,“ This man really was righteous!”

and said,“ Sir, we remember that while this deceiver was still alive He said,‘ After three days I will rise again.’

It is enough for a disciple to become like his teacher and a slave like his master. If they called the head of the house‘ Beelzebul,’ how much more the members of his household!

Then fear came over everyone, and they glorified God, saying,“ A great prophet has risen among us,” and“ God has visited His people.”

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples,“ Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”And they said,“ Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”“ But you,” He asked them,“ who do you say that I am?”Simon Peter answered,“ You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God!”

A good man produces good out of the good storeroom of his heart. An evil man produces evil out of the evil storeroom, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.

“ Why do you call Me good?” Jesus asked him.“ No one is good but One— God.

for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And large numbers of people were added to the Lord.

“ You aren’t from Galilee too, are you?” they replied.“ Investigate and you will see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”

Again a division took place among the Jews because of these words.Many of them were saying,“ He has a demon and He’s crazy! Why do you listen to Him?”Others were saying,“ These aren’t the words of someone demon-possessed. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

For rarely will someone die for a just person— though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die.

When the people saw the sign He had done, they said,“ This really is the Prophet who was to come into the world!”
