摩西不是把律法傳給了你們嗎？你們卻沒有一個人遵守。為什麼想要殺我呢？」

如果你們在一個地方遭迫害，就避到另一個地方。我實在告訴你們，沒等你們走遍以色列的城鎮，人子就來了。

然而，那些佃戶看見園主的兒子來了，就商量說，『這是園主的繼承人。來吧！我們殺掉他，佔了他的產業！』

以下是約翰的見證。猶太人從耶路撒冷派祭司和利未人來找約翰，查問他是誰。

這是耶穌從猶太回到加利利後所行的第二個神蹟。

你們也知道，拿撒勒人耶穌是上帝用聖靈和大能膏立的。祂周遊四方，廣行善事，醫好被魔鬼壓制的人，因為上帝與祂同在。

那時，有幾個法利賽人來告訴耶穌，說：「快離開這裡吧，希律要殺你！」耶穌說：「你們去告訴那個狐狸，『今天和明天，我要繼續趕鬼治病，到第三天，我的任務就完成了。』無論如何，今天、明天和後天我必須繼續前行，因為先知不能死在耶路撒冷以外的地方。

有些住在耶路撒冷的人說：「這不是他們要殺的那個人嗎？

我把從上帝那裡聽到的真理告訴你們，你們反要殺我，亞伯拉罕絕不做這樣的事。

「我知道你們是亞伯拉罕的子孫，但你們卻想殺我，因為你們心裡容不下我的道。

從那天起，他們就計劃要殺害耶穌，所以耶穌不再公開地在猶太人中間露面。祂離開伯大尼，前往靠近曠野的地方，到了以法蓮城，就和門徒住下來。

他們又要抓耶穌，但祂從他們手中逃脫了。後來，耶穌到了約旦河東岸約翰從前施洗的地方，在那裡住下來。
