The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you— they are full of the Spirit and life.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double- edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.

You have been born anew, not from perishable but from imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.

This is what comforts me in my trouble, for your promise revives me.

Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ.

So also it is written,“ The first man, Adam, became a living person”; the last Adam became a life- giving spirit.

But what does it say?“ The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”( that is, the word of faith that we preach),because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation.

who made us adequate to be servants of a new covenant not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.But if the ministry that produced death– carved in letters on stone tablets– came with glory, so that the Israelites could not keep their eyes fixed on the face of Moses because of the glory of his face( a glory which was made ineffective),how much more glorious will the ministry of the Spirit be?

The law of the LORD is perfect and preserves one’s life. The rules set down by the LORD are reliable and impart wisdom to the inexperienced.The LORD’s precepts are fair and make one joyful. The LORD’s commands are pure and give insight for life.The commands to fear the LORD are right and endure forever. The judgments given by the LORD are trustworthy and absolutely just.They are of greater value than gold, than even a great amount of pure gold; they bring greater delight than honey, than even the sweetest honey from a honeycomb.

For I have not spoken from my own authority, but the Father himself who sent me has commanded me what I should say and what I should speak.And I know that his commandment is eternal life. Thus the things I say, I say just as the Father has told me.”

By his sovereign plan he gave us birth through the message of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

For the law of the life- giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.

And so we too constantly thank God that when you received God’s message that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human message, but as it truly is, God’s message, which is at work among you who believe.

The LORD God formed the man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Because Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, to bring you to God, by being put to death in the flesh but by being made alive in the spirit.

And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you– not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience to God– through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

For“ physical exercise has some value, but godliness is valuable in every way. It holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.”

For this reason, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord i n an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.A person should examine himself first, and in this way let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.For the one who eats and drinks without careful regard for the body eats and drinks judgment against himself.

Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them.

Therefore what advantage does the Jew have, or what is the value of circumcision?Actually, there are many advantages. First of all, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision carries any weight– the only thing that matters is faith working through love.

For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation!

But just as it is written,“ Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love him.”God has revealed these to us by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.For who among men knows the things of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So too, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.And we speak about these things, not with words taught us by human wisdom, but with those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

For circumcision has its value if you practice the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
