The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you— they are full of the Spirit and life.

who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end,will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory?

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.

For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment— what to say and what to speak.And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.”

Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.

Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision?Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.

But, as it is written,“ What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.
