On hearing it, many of his disciples said,“ This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”

From that moment many of his disciples turned back and no longer accompanied him.

Why don’t you understand what I say? Because you cannot listen to my word.

and blessed is the one who isn’t offended by me.”

He speaks about these things in all his letters. There are some things hard to understand in them. The untaught and unstable will twist them to their own destruction, as they also do with the rest of the Scriptures.

Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him,“ If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples.

Therefore the Jews started grumbling about him because he said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”They were saying,“ Isn’t this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say,‘ I have come down from heaven’?”
