For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

I have not come down from heaven to do what I want to do. I have come to do what the one who sent me wants me to do.

I can do nothing on my own initiative. Just as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of the one who sent me.

Jesus said to them,“ My food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to complete his work.

No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven– the Son of Man.

Though the LORD desired to crush him and make him ill, once restitution is made, he will see descendants and enjoy long life, and the LORD’s purpose will be accomplished through him.

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature.He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death– even death on a cross!

The one who comes from above is superior to all. The one who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is superior to all.

For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

Now what is the meaning of“ he ascended,” except that he also descended to the lower regions, namely, the earth?

Going a little farther, he threw himself down with his face to the ground and prayed,“ My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will.”Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He said to Peter,“ So, couldn’t you stay awake with me for one hour?Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”He went away a second time and prayed,“ My Father, if this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will must be done.”

Although he was a son, he learned obedience through the things he suffered.

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

For even Christ did not please himself, but just as it is written,“ The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”

“ Then I said,‘ Here I am: I have come– it is written of me in the scroll of the book– to do your will, O God.’”When he says above,“ Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin- offerings you did not desire nor did you take delight in them”( which are offered according to the law),then he says,“ Here I am: I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first to establish the second.

Then I say,“ Look! I come! What is written in the scroll pertains to me.I want to do what pleases you, my God. Your law dominates my thoughts.”
