Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written:‘ He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

Long ago our people ate the manna in the desert. It is written in Scripture,‘ The Lord gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”( Exodus 16:4; Nehemiah 9:15; Psalm 78:24, 25)

雨嗎嗱為食、自天降糈兮、彼食玉食、以果腹兮。

聖神示諸會之言宜傾耳以聽、如有勝敵者、我將以所藏嗎嗱賜之食、頒以白玉、上鐫新名、惟受者識之、外此則無識之者、

食靈食、飲靈飲、

既食土所產之穀、次日嗎嗱不降、以色列族不復得之、是年所食者、則迦南土產。○

耶和華諭摩西曰、我必自天雨餅、以贍汝用、使民出外、日斂所需、我行是以試民、果遵我例否。至於六日、所斂必倍其數、所收者民必備之。摩西亞倫告以色列族曰、至夕爾必知耶和華導爾出埃及。詰朝爾將睹耶和華之榮光、我何人斯、奚為怨我。爾怨耶和華、已升聞於上。又曰、耶和華夕頒爾以肉、朝飽爾以餅、爾出怨言、耶和華已聞之矣。我何人斯、爾所怨者、非我也、耶和華也。摩西使亞倫告以色列會眾曰、耶和華聞爾怨言、使爾進於其前。亞倫言時、以色列會眾向野遙瞻、耶和華之榮光、雲中顯著。耶和華諭摩西曰、以色列族怨言、我已聞矣。當告之曰、夕可噉肉、朝可飽餅、使知我乃爾之上帝耶和華。營壘四周、夕有鶉集、旦有露降、零露初晞、細片如霜、充斥於地。以色列族見而弗識、相語曰、此何物歟。摩西曰、此耶和華予爾之餅。

此天降之餅、非如爾祖食嗎嗱而死、食此餅者永生也、

當斯時也、使爾饑餒、以嗎嗱飼爾、斯嗎嗱爾祖與爾未識、使爾知人得生、不惟餅、惟耶和華所命。

迄今陳於目前者、嗎嗱而已、使我精力衰微、夫嗎嗱狀如莞荽、色如珍珠、居民四出、各相斂取、或磨或擣、作餅以烹於鼎、味若和油之餅。既夕露降於營、嗎嗱亦同下。

以色列族食嗎嗱、歷四十年、迨至迦南境人跡之處而後已。

以爾聖神訓迪、錫嗎嗱以充其飢、出清泉以止其渴。
