耶稣知道他们要来强迫他作王，就独自又退到山上去了。到了晚上，他的门徒下到海边，上了船，要过海往迦百农去。天已经黑了，耶稣还没有来到他们那里。忽然狂风大作，海浪翻腾。门徒摇橹，约行了十里多，看见耶稣在海面上走，渐渐靠近了船，他们就害怕。耶稣对他们说：“是我，不要怕！”门徒就欣然接他上船，船立刻到了他们所要去的地方。

耶稣随即催门徒上船，先渡到对岸，到伯赛大去，等他叫众人散去。他辞别了他们，就往山上去祷告。到了晚上，船在海中，耶稣独自在岸上。他看见门徒因风不顺，摇橹很苦。天快亮的时候，他在海面上走，往他们那里去，想要超过他们。但门徒看见他在海面上走，以为是鬼怪，就喊叫起来；因为他们都看见了他，甚为惊慌。耶稣连忙对他们说：“放心！是我，不要怕！”于是他到他们那里，一上船，风就停了；他们心里十分惊奇。这是因为他们不明白那分饼的事，心里还是愚顽。

耶稣的兄弟们对他说：“你离开这里上犹太去吧，好让你的门徒也看见你所做的事。因为人要扬名，没有在隐秘的地方行事的，如果你要做这些事，该把自己显明给世人看。”

耶稣随即催门徒上船，先渡到对岸，等他叫众人散去。疏散了众人以后，他独自上山去祷告。到了晚上，只有他一人在那里。那时船已离岸好几里，因风不顺，被浪颠簸。天快亮的时候，耶稣在海面上走，往门徒那里去。但门徒看见他在海面上走，就惊慌了，说：“是个鬼怪！”他们害怕得喊叫起来。耶稣连忙对他们说：“放心！是我，不要怕！”彼得回答他说：“主啊，如果是你，请叫我从水面上走到你那里去。”耶稣说：“你来吧！”彼得就从船上下去，在水面上走，往耶稣那里去；只因见风很强，害怕起来，将要沉下去，就喊着说：“主啊，救我！”耶稣立刻伸手拉住他，说：“你这小信的人哪，为什么疑惑呢？”他们一上船，风就停了。在船上的人都拜他，说：“你真是神的儿子。”

前呼后拥的人都喊着说：“和散那！奉主名来的是应当称颂的！

说：“奉主名来的王是应当称颂的！在天上有和平；在至高之处有荣光。”

第二天，有一大群上来过节的人听见耶稣要来耶路撒冷，就拿着棕树枝出去迎接他，喊着：“和散那，以色列的王！奉主名来的是应当称颂的！”耶稣找到了一匹驴驹，就骑上，如经上所记：“锡安的儿女啊，不要惧怕！看哪，你的王来了；他骑在驴驹上。”

耶稣上了山，和门徒一同坐在那里。

耶稣自己却不信任他们，因为他认识所有的人，也用不着谁来证明人是怎样的，因为他自己认识人的内心。

被造的，没有一样在他面前不是显露的；万物在他眼前都是赤露敞开的，我们必须向他交账。
