Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

But Jesus knew that they planned to come and force him to be their king. So he went away again to a mountain by himself.

Do not be afraid.”Then they wanted to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat came to the land where they had been heading.

Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dispersed the crowd.After saying good- bye to them, he went to the mountain to pray.When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea and he was alone on the land.He saw them straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. As the night was ending, he came to them walking on the sea, for he wanted to pass by them.When they saw him walking on the water they thought he was a ghost. They cried out,for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them:“ Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”Then he went up with them into the boat, and the wind ceased. They were completely astonished,because they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

So Jesus’ brothers advised him,“ Leave here and go to Judea so your disciples may see your miracles that you are performing.For no one who seeks to make a reputation for himself does anything in secret. If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”

Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he dispersed the crowds.And after he sent the crowds away, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone.Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it.As the night was ending, Jesus came to them walking on the sea.When the disciples saw him walking on the water they were terrified and said,“ It’s a ghost!” and cried out with fear.But immediately Jesus spoke to them:“ Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”Peter said to him,“ Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.”So he said,“ Come.” Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.But when he saw the strong wind he became afraid. And starting to sink, he cried out,“ Lord, save me!”Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him,“ You of little faith, why did you doubt?”When they went up into the boat, the wind ceased.Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying,“ Truly you are the Son of God.”

Both those who went ahead and those who followed kept shouting,“ Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!

“ Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him. They began to shout,“ Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the king of Israel!”Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,“ Do not be afraid, people of Zion; look, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt!”

So Jesus went on up the mountainside and sat down there with his disciples.

But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.He did not need anyone to testify about man, for he knew what was in man.

And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.
