那時，男人約有五千。耶穌對門徒說：「叫他們分組坐下，每組大約五十個人。」門徒就這樣做了，叫眾人都坐下。耶穌拿着這五個餅和兩條魚，望着天祝福，擘開，遞給門徒，擺在眾人面前。

耶穌吩咐他們，叫眾人一組一組地坐在青草地上。眾人就一羣一羣地坐下，有一百的，有五十的。耶穌拿着這五個餅和兩條魚，望着天祝福，擘開餅，遞給門徒，擺在眾人面前，也把那兩條魚分給眾人。

他就吩咐眾人坐在地上，拿着這七個餅和幾條魚，祝謝了，擘開，遞給門徒；門徒又遞給眾人。

耶穌說：「拿過來給我。」於是他吩咐眾人坐在草地上，就拿着這五個餅和兩條魚，望着天祝福，擘開餅，遞給門徒，門徒又遞給眾人。

他吩咐眾人坐在地上，就拿着這七個餅祝謝了，擘開，遞給門徒，叫他們擺開，門徒就擺在眾人面前。他們還有幾條小魚；耶穌祝謝了，就吩咐也擺在眾人面前。
