勿以為予將訟爾於父、訟爾者固另有人在、即爾所信賴之摩西是已。

“ But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set.

“ Do not think I will bring charges against you in front of the Father. Moses is the one who does that. And he is the one you build your hopes on.

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope.

“ Yet it isn’t I who will accuse you before the Father. Moses will accuse you! Yes, Moses, in whom you put your hopes.

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.

And they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are disciples of Moses.We know that God hath spoken unto Moses: but as for this man, we know not whence he is.

Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you doeth the law? Why seek ye to kill me?

But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God,and knowest his will, and approvest the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth;thou therefore that teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou rob temples?thou who gloriest in the law, through thy transgression of the law dishonorest thou God?For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, even as it is written.For circumcision indeed profiteth, if thou be a doer of the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.If therefore the uncircumcision keep the ordinances of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision?and shall not the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who with the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh:but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

For Moses writeth that the man that doeth the righteousness which is of the law shall live thereby.But the righteousness which is of faith saith thus, Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven?( that is, to bring Christ down:)or, Who shall descend into the abyss?( that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.

But if the ministration of death, written, and engraven on stones, came with glory, so that the children of Israel could not look stedfastly upon the face of Moses for the glory of his face; which glory was passing away:how shall not rather the ministration of the spirit be with glory?For if the ministration of condemnation hath glory, much rather doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.For verily that which hath been made glorious hath not been made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that surpasseth.For if that which passeth away was with glory, much more that which remaineth is in glory.

They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put her away?He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so.

For as many as have sinned without the law shall also perish without the law: and as many as have sinned under the law shall be judged by the law;

Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such: what then sayest thou of her?And this they said, trying him, that they might have whereof to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.

And I was alive apart from the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died;and the commandment, which was unto life, this I found to be unto death:for sin, finding occasion, through the commandment beguiled me, and through it slew me.So that the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good.Did then that which is good become death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good;— that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful.For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.
