You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

You study the Scriptures carefully. You study them because you think they will give you eternal life. The Scriptures you study are a witness about me.

“ You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!

You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, and yet they testify about me.

You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is those very Scriptures that testify about Me;

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me;

You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, yet they testify about Me.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

You study the scriptures thoroughly because you think in them you possess eternal life, and it is these same scriptures that testify about me,

“ You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me.

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

Then he said to them,“ These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation.For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Seek and read from the book of the Lord: Not one of these shall be missing; none shall be without her mate. For the mouth of the Lord has commanded, and his Spirit has gathered them.

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.

which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,

[ Men] Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.

Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.

Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God.

The wise men shall be put to shame; they shall be dismayed and taken; behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, so what wisdom is in them?

But Jesus answered them,“ You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life,

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.

They replied,“ Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”

But Abraham said,‘ They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’

Philip found Nathanael and said to him,“ We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

For it is no empty word for you, but your very life, and by this word you shall live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.”

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

There is another who bears witness about me, and I know that the testimony that he bears about me is true.

Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me,“ You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.”

“ You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

He said to him,‘ If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”He said to him,“ What is written in the Law? How do you read it?”And he answered,“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”And he said to him,“ You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever.

but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.

But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.

And behold, a man came up to him, saying,“ Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”And he said to him,“ Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.”He said to him,“ Which ones?” And Jesus said,“ You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”The young man said to him,“ All these I have kept. What do I still lack?”

It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in Godand know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law;

“ And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests.And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them,

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life.
