So the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”

所以猶太人對那被治好了的人說：「今天是安息日，你拿褥子是不合法的。」

所以猶太人對那被治好了的人說：「今天是安息日，你拿褥子是不合法的。」

猶太人便對那人說：「今天是安息日，你不可拿著墊子走路。」

因此猶太人對那醫好了的人說：“今天是安息日，你拿著褥子是不可以的。”

於是猶太人對那得治好的人說：『今天是安息日，你拿鋪蓋是不可以的。』

所以那些猶太人對那得了痊癒的人說：「今天是安息日，你拿著墊子是不可以的！」

是日、乃安息日、猶太人謂病愈者曰、茲乃安息日、爾取榻非宜也、

猶太人謂得愈者曰、今安息日、取床非宜、

猶太人謂病愈者曰、今乃安息日、爾負臥榻非宜也、

猶太人謂痊者曰：『禮日不當負榻。』

and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”

So the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath day. The law does not allow you to carry your mat.”

so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured,“ You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”

and so the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ This is the Sabbath. The law prohibits you from picking up your mat.”

So the Jews were saying to the man who was cured,“ It is a Sabbath, and it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet.”

The Jews therefore said to him who was cured,“ It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”

So the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.

so the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ This is the Sabbath! It’s illegal for you to pick up your mat.”

The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry[ thy] bed.

So the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath, and you are not permitted to carry your mat.”

So the Jews said to him who was cured,“ It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”

Thus says the Lord: Take care for the sake of your lives, and do not bear a burden on the Sabbath day or bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem.

But some of the Pharisees said,“ Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?”

In those days I saw in Judah people treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in heaps of grain and loading them on donkeys, and also wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of loads, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I warned them on the day when they sold food.Tyrians also, who lived in the city, brought in fish and all kinds of goods and sold them on the Sabbath to the people of Judah, in Jerusalem itself!Then I confronted the nobles of Judah and said to them,“ What is this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day?Did not your fathers act in this way, and did not our God bring all this disaster on us and on this city? Now you are bringing more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”As soon as it began to grow dark at the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut and gave orders that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. And I stationed some of my servants at the gates, that no load might be brought in on the Sabbath day.Then the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice.But I warned them and said to them,“ Why do you lodge outside the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on they did not come on the Sabbath.

Some of the Pharisees said,“ This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said,“ How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.

But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people,“ There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”

And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.

And the Pharisees were saying to him,“ Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

And he said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him,“ Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”He said to them,“ Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him:how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?Or have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless?I tell you, something greater than the temple is here.And if you had known what this means,‘ I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”

“ If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly;

“ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

And the Lord said to Moses,“ You are to speak to the people of Israel and say,‘ Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you.You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death.Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant forever.It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’”

If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man’s whole body well?

Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

But if you do not listen to me, to keep the Sabbath day holy, and not to bear a burden and enter by the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem and shall not be quenched.’”
