呂大和約帕相距不遠，門徒聽說彼得在呂大，就派兩個人趕去請他立刻來約帕。

瑪大對耶穌說：「主啊，你如果早在這裡，我弟弟就不會死了。

耶穌就跟他們去了。快抵達時，那百夫長又請幾位朋友去見耶穌，對祂說：「主啊，不用勞駕，我不配讓你親自來我家。我自認不配見你的面，只要你一句話，我的奴僕必定康復。因為我有上司，也有部下。我命令我的部下去，他就去；要他來，他就來。我吩咐奴僕做什麼事，他一定照辦。」
