“ Each year every man in Israel must celebrate these three festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Harvest, and the Festival of Shelters. On each of these occasions, all men must appear before the Lord your God at the place he chooses, but they must not appear before the Lord without a gift for him.

After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus.“ Rabbi,” he said,“ we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”

It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover celebration, so Jesus went to Jerusalem.In the Temple area he saw merchants selling cattle, sheep, and doves for sacrifices; he also saw dealers at tables exchanging foreign money.Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. He drove out the sheep and cattle, scattered the money changers’ coins over the floor, and turned over their tables.Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them,“ Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!”

But the people of the village did not welcome Jesus because he was on his way to Jerusalem.

On the other side of the lake the crowds welcomed Jesus, because they had been waiting for him.

When Jesus was twelve years old, they attended the festival as usual.After the celebration was over, they started home to Nazareth, but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn’t miss him at first,because they assumed he was among the other travelers. But when he didn’t show up that evening, they started looking for him among their relatives and friends.

Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed— he healed them all.
