The LORD God of their ancestors continually warned them through his messengers, for he felt compassion for his people and his dwelling place.

Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.These two went down and prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit.( For the Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then Peter and John placed their hands on the Samaritans, and they received the Holy Spirit.

But many of those who had listened to the message believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.

The word of God continued to spread, the number of disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.

Now those who had been forced to scatter went around proclaiming the good news of the word.Philip went down to the main city of Samaria and began proclaiming the Christ to them.The crowds were paying attention with one mind to what Philip said, as they heard and saw the miraculous signs he was performing.For unclean spirits, crying with loud shrieks, were coming out of many who were possessed, and many paralyzed and lame people were healed.So there was great joy in that city.

Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added.

In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness of Judea proclaiming,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”For he is the one about whom Isaiah the prophet had spoken:“ The voice of one shouting in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.’”Now John wore clothing made from camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist, and his diet consisted of locusts and wild honey.Then people from Jerusalem, as well as all Judea and all the region around the Jordan, were going out to him,and he was baptizing them in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins.

The group of those who believed were of one heart and mind, and no one said that any of his possessions was his own, but everything was held in common.

you know what happened throughout Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John announced:with respect to Jesus from Nazareth, that God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.

More and more believers in the Lord were added to their number, crowds of both men and women.

They probed into what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified beforehand about the sufferings appointed for Christ and his subsequent glory.They were shown that they were serving not themselves but you, in regard to the things now announced to you through those who proclaimed the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven– things angels long to catch a glimpse of.
