Yet the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place;

Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John,who came down and prayed for them that they would receive the Holy Spirit.( For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.

But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

The word of God kept spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

Yet I sent you all My servants the prophets again and again, saying,“ Oh, do not do this abominable thing which I hate.”

And He ordered us to preach to the people, and to testify solemnly that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.All the prophets testify of Him, that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”

Therefore, those who had been scattered went through places preaching the word.Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming the Christ to them.The crowds were paying attention with one mind to what was being said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs which he was performing.For in the case of many who had unclean spirits, they were coming out of them shouting with a loud voice; and many who had been paralyzed or limped on crutches were healed.So there was much rejoicing in that city.

Jesus was going about in all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

Now in those days John the Baptist* came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said,“ The voice of one calling out in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight!’ ”Now John himself had a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.At that time Jerusalem was going out to him, and all Judea and all the region around the Jordan;and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, as they confessed their sins.

And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them.

you yourselves know the thing that happened throughout Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed.You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

And increasingly believers in the Lord, large numbers of men and women, were being added to their number,

seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven— things into which angels long to look.
