But the LORD, the God of their ancestors sent word against them by the hand of his messengers, sending them time and time again, for he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.

When the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.After they went down there, they prayed for them so that the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit because he had not yet come down on any of them.( They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.

So the word of God spread, the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly in number, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.

So I sent you all my servants the prophets time and time again, saying,‘ Don’t commit this detestable action that I hate.’

He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be the judge of the living and the dead.All the prophets testify about him that through his name everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins.”

So those who were scattered went on their way preaching the word.Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah to them.The crowds were all paying attention to what Philip said, as they listened and saw the signs he was performing.For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed, and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.So there was great joy in that city.

Now Jesus began to go all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.

In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judeaand saying,“ Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!”For he is the one spoken of through the prophet Isaiah, who said: A voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way for the Lord; make his paths straight!Now John had a camel-hair garment with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.Then people from Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the vicinity of the Jordan were going out to him,and they were baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

Now the entire group of those who believed were of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but instead they held everything in common.

You know the events that took place throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached:how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the devil, because God was with him.

Believers were added to the Lord in increasing numbers— multitudes of both men and women.

They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified in advance to the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven— angels long to catch a glimpse of these things.
