You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you, by saying:‘ This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.And in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

Truly, truly, I say to you, a time is coming and even now has arrived, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

Then the Lord said,“ Because this people approaches Me with their words And honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of the commandment of men that is taught;

The people whom I formed for Myself Will declare My praise.

Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;

With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints,

Jesus* said to her,“ Believe Me, woman, that a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

This is what the Lord says:“ Heaven is My throne and the earth is the footstool for My feet. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest?For My hand made all these things, So all these things came into being,” declares the Lord.“ But I will look to this one, At one who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who trembles at My word.

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,keep yourselves in the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

“ Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and do away with the gods which your fathers served beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

The Pharisee stood and began praying this in regard to himself:‘ God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, crooked, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to raise his eyes toward heaven, but was beating his chest, saying,‘ God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’

Yet in spite of all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to Me with all her heart, but rather in deception,” declares the Lord.

Yet they seek Me day by day and delight to know My ways, As a nation that has done righteousness And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God. They ask Me for just decisions, They delight in the nearness of God.

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out,“ Abba! Father!”

For God, whom I serve in my spirit in the preaching of the gospel of His Son, is my witness as to how unceasingly I make mention of you,

Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, and remembering You, is the desire of our souls.At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; For when the earth experiences Your judgments, The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Hear a just cause, Lord, give Your attention to my cry; Listen to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.

The Lord favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His faithfulness.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

“ Hear this, house of Jacob, who are named Israel And who came from the waters of Judah, Who swear by the name of the Lord And invoke the God of Israel, But not in truth nor in righteousness.For they name themselves after the holy city, And lean on the God of Israel; The Lord of armies is His name.

Now on that day the remnant of Israel, and those of the house of Jacob who have escaped, will no longer rely on the one who struck them, but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in secret You will make wisdom known to me.

Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.

“ My dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the hiding place of the mountain pathway, Let me see how you look, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is pleasant, And you look delightful.”

And if you will swear,‘ As the Lord lives,’ In truth, in justice, and in righteousness; Then the nations will bless themselves in Him, And in Him they will boast.”

Since I know, my God, that You put the heart to the test and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.

then I will let you live in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.“ Behold, you are trusting in deceptive words to no avail.Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, offer sacrifices to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known,then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say,‘ We are saved!’— so that you may do all these abominations?Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your sight? Behold, I Myself have seen it,” declares the Lord.“ But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I made My name dwell at the beginning, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.

Hear the word of the Lord, You rulers of Sodom; Listen to the instruction of our God, You people of Gomorrah!“ What are your many sacrifices to Me?” Says the Lord.“ I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fattened cattle; And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats.When you come to appear before Me, Who requires of you this trampling of My courtyards?Do not go on bringing your worthless offerings, Incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and Sabbath, the proclamation of an assembly— I cannot endure wrongdoing and the festive assembly.I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts, They have become a burden to Me; I am tired of bearing them.So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes, even though you offer many prayers, I will not be listening. Your hands are covered with blood.

How blessed is a person whose guilt the Lord does not take into account, And in whose spirit there is no deceit!

I searched for a man among them who would build up a wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.

Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your recovery will spring up quickly; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry for help, and He will say,‘ Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,And if you offer yourself to the hungry And satisfy the need of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness, And your gloom will become like midday.And the Lord will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.“ If, because of the Sabbath, you restrain your foot From doing as you wish on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a pleasure, and the holy day of the Lord honorable, And honor it, desisting from your own ways, From seeking your own pleasure And speaking your own word,Then you will take delight in the Lord, And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
