So don’t be surprised when I say,‘ You must be born again.’

You should not be surprised at my saying,‘ You must be born again.’

Do not marvel that I said to you,‘ You must be born again.’

Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew.

Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.

Do not be amazed that I said to you,‘ You must all be born from above.’

Don’t marvel that I said to you,‘ You must be born anew.’

Jesus replied,“ I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.Put on your new nature, created to be like God— truly righteous and holy.

Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty— but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Jesus also used this illustration:“ The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.This fulfilled what God had spoken through the prophet:“ I will speak to you in parables. I will explain things hidden since the creation of the world.”

Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son,

You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice— the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

In the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who are destined for destruction.He does this to make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on those to whom he shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for glory.And we are among those whom he selected, both from the Jews and from the Gentiles.Concerning the Gentiles, God says in the prophecy of Hosea,“ Those who were not my people, I will now call my people. And I will love those whom I did not love before.”

Can any mortal be pure? Can anyone born of a woman be just?

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.

Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them,“ Does this offend you?Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to heaven again?The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.For the Scriptures say,“ You must be holy because I am holy.”

But if you don’t believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.

Well then, should we conclude that we Jews are better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles, are under the power of sin.As the Scriptures say,“ No one is righteous— not even one.No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God.All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.”“ Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with lies.”“ Snake venom drips from their lips.”“ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”“ They rush to commit murder.Destruction and misery always follow them.They don’t know where to find peace.”“ They have no fear of God at all.”Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God.
