尼哥底母说：“人已经老了，如何能重生呢？岂能再进母腹生出来吗？”

尼哥底母曰、人既老、奚能生、能再入母胎而生耶、

尼哥底母曰、人既老、何能重生、豈能再入母腹而生乎、

尼閣德睦曰：『人既老、安得重生？寧能再入母胎、以得重生乎？』

“ How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked.“ Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

“ How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked.“ They can’t go back inside their mother! They can’t be born a second time!”

Nicodemus said to him,“ How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

“ What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus.“ How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”

“ How can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked him.“ Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”

Nicodemus* said to Him,“ How can a person be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?”

Nicodemus said to Him,“ How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

“ But how can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked Him.“ Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”

不過一個屬血氣的人不接受屬神的靈的這些事，因為對他來說，這些是愚拙的；他也不能明白，因為這些事要用屬靈的方式才能洞察。

原來，十字架的福音對那些正在滅亡的人來說，是愚拙的；但是對我們這些正在被拯救的人來說，卻是神的大能。

婦人問：「先生，你沒有打水的器具，井又深，你從哪裡得來那活水呢？難道你比我們的先祖雅各更大嗎？他給我們留下了這口井。他自己、他的子孫、他的牲畜都喝這井裡的水！」

耶穌回答說：「我確確實實地告訴你：一個人如果不重生，就不能見神的國。」

耶穌說：「我確確實實地告訴你們：如果你們不吃人子的肉，不喝人子的血，你們裡面就沒有生命。

他的門徒當中有許多人聽了，就說：「這話實在嚴厲，誰能聽呢？」
