And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and[ with] fire:

The like figure whereunto[ even] baptism doth also now save us( not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
[ Which stood] only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed[ on them] until the time of reformation.
And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash[ their] hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.And[ when they come] from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold,[ as] the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
[ It was] therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men,[ as] the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
