The same came to him by night, and said to him,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him.”

暮夜來謁耶穌曰：『夫子吾人深知子之來教誨也、乃奉天主之聖命、蓋子所行之靈蹟、苟非天主所輔佑、其孰能行之？』

He came to Jesus at night and said,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

He came to Jesus at night and said,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. We know that God is with you. If he weren’t, you couldn’t do the signs you are doing.”

After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus.“ Rabbi,” he said,“ we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”

“ Men of Israel, hear these words! Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him among you, even as you yourselves know,

even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John, for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.

Some therefore of the Pharisees said,“ This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others said,“ How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” There was division among them.

The man answered them,“ How amazing! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God, and does his will, he listens to him.Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of someone born blind.If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”

saying,“ What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it.But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”

The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said,“ What are we doing? For this man does many signs.If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying,“ Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.

But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said,“ When the Christ comes, he won’t do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?”

But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn’t believe in him,

Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them,“ What are you looking for?” They said to him,“ Rabbi”( which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher),“ where are you staying?”

Jesus said to her,“ Mary.” She turned and said to him,“ Rabboni!” which is to say,“ Teacher!”

They came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, he baptizes, and everyone is coming to him.”

Nevertheless even many of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.

If I hadn’t done among them the works which no one else did, they wouldn’t have had sin. But now they have seen and also hated both me and my Father.

Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as Yahweh had spoken to him. Because he feared his father’s household and the men of the city, he could not do it by day, but he did it by night.

Nicodemus( he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,“ Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”

“ Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law. Don’t fear the reproach of men, and don’t be dismayed at their insults.

After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.

When they had come, they asked him,“ Teacher, we know that you are honest, and don’t defer to anyone; for you aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?

and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.
