暮夜來謁耶穌曰：『夫子吾人深知子之來教誨也、乃奉天主之聖命、蓋子所行之靈蹟、苟非天主所輔佑、其孰能行之？』

这人夜里来见耶稣，说：“拉比，我们知道你是由神那里来作师傅的；因为你所行的神迹，若没有神同在，无人能行。”

He came to Jesus at night and said,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

This man came to Jesus by night and said to him,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”

After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus.“ Rabbi,” he said,“ we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”

This man came to him at night and said,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one could perform these signs you do unless God were with him.”

義塞人乎、當聆吾言！天主藉納匝勒人耶穌、以異能神蹟行於爾中、而為之證、是固爾所知者。

天主沐以聖神、充以神力、足跡所至仁澤是施、脫人於魔、而賜以康復。以天主恆與之偕也。

顧為予作證者、有較如望更為重要者焉。蓋父所授予之使命、令予完成、而予今猶慘澹經營者、亦為吾證、證父實曾遣予、

法利塞人中有曰：『此人不守安息日、決非自天主來者。』或曰：『罪人焉能行此靈蹟？』彼此頗持異同。

其人應之曰：『爾謂不知其所自然彼固已啟吾之目矣。噫、是亦異矣！夫吾人固知天主不聽罪人、惟敬事天主而遵行其旨者、主則聽焉。自古以來、未聞有能啟胎瞽之目者。苟斯人而不自天主、其亦無能為也已！』

『是二人者、何以處之？彼所行者、顯係神蹟、耶路撒冷居民未有不悉其事者、自難否認、第恐流傳益廣、當加以警誡、使勿再奉耶穌之名以訓人。』

司祭諸長及法利塞人、乃召集會議、僉曰：『斯人多行異蹟、吾輩將何以處之？若聽其所為、則眾庶咸將信之、而羅馬人必至而奪吾土吾民矣。』

乃發其黨徒、偕希祿黨人來問耶穌曰：『夫子、吾知爾真實無誑、率陳主道、不顧人情、無所偏袒；

顧民間信奉之者亦不在少數、其言曰：『基督降臨時、其所行靈蹟、寧能多於斯人之所行乎？』

夫耶穌在眾人之前所行靈蹟、亦云多矣。而眾人猶不之信；

耶穌回顧、見其來從、問曰：『何求？』曰：『辣卞何居？』「辣卞」即夫子之謂也。

耶穌曰：『瑪麗！』瑪麗即回顧、以猶太語呼之曰：『辣波尼！』辣波尼之為言「夫子」也。

因共謁如望曰：『夫子曩在約但河外、所為作證者、今亦授洗、人盡趨之。』

然官紳中亦頗有信耶穌者、惟礙於法利塞人、故不敢公然認之、恐被逐於會堂也。蓋若輩之愛慕人爵、有甚乎天爵者焉。

予若未在眾前行人所不能行之靈蹟、則彼猶可無咎、今彼既睹之、而依然惡予與吾父也！

尼閣德睦即暮夜晉謁耶穌者、當時亦在其間、乃謂之曰：『未先聽訟、一究其所行、吾法豈能遽加以罪乎？』

有亞利瑪大人若瑟者、私淑耶穌、以畏猶太人故、迄未敢公然事之；至是乃具稟比辣多、欲領耶穌遺體；比辣多既准、乃來收屍。而曩昔暮夜謁耶穌之尼閣德睦、亦攜沒藥沉香約百斤至。

乃曰：『夫子、吾知爾正直無私、不徇人情、惟天主之道是傳。敢問納稅於凱撒、理乎？

而多數宗主之兄弟、因予之被囚、舉相率鼓其勇氣、再接再厲、以大無畏之精神、弘宣天主之道。
