Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

Moses lifted up the snake in the desert. In the same way, the Son of Man must also be lifted up.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

And the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, because we have spoken against Jehovah, and against thee; pray unto Jehovah, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a standard: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he seeth it, shall live.And Moses made a serpent of brass, and set it upon the standard: and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked unto the serpent of brass, he lived.

Jesus therefore said, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things.

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.But this he said, signifying by what manner of death he should die.The multitude therefore answered him, We have heard out of the law that the Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together,to do whatsoever thy hand and thy council foreordained to come to pass.

How then should the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day;

And he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets shall be accomplished unto the Son of man.For he shall be delivered up unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon:and they shall scourge and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

For dogs have compassed me: A company of evil- doers have inclosed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.

He removed the high places, and brake the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.

him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay:

Behooved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.
