西門曰：『吾儕通宵操勞、一鱗無獲、茲尊爾示、當復下網。』

睹此一網所得之魚、舉不勝驚愕也。耶穌謂西門曰：『毋懼！今而後汝當為生靈之漁父矣。』彼等既曳舟上岸、盡棄所有、以從耶穌。

行經加利利河濱、見兄弟二人、一為西門即伯鐸祿、一為其弟安德烈、正投網海中；漁夫也。耶穌謂之曰：『從予、將使爾為生靈漁夫。』二人立棄其網而從之。

種植者與灌溉者均不足貴也；所可貴者惟賜其發榮滋長之天主耳。

蓋爾等固知應如何以吾儕為法也。吾儕昔在爾中、日用之間、未嘗不規行矩步、亦未嘗仰給於人、惟日夜躬自操作、以免加累於爾。吾人非無權要求供養也；顧欲以身作則、俾爾等知所取法耳。

我與從者所需、悉憑此兩手以供之；此乃爾所應知也。

抑吾與巴拿巴必須躬自操作、自食其力耶？

兄弟當猶憶吾儕傳授天主福音時之如何艱辛困苦、躬自操作、夙夜不遑、以免加爾之累。

葆樂訪之、因其亦以製幕為業、遂與同寓而經營焉。
