“ I’m going fishing,” Simon Peter said to them.“ We’re coming with you,” they told him. They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

西門說：「老師，我們勞碌了一整夜，一無所獲，但既然你這樣吩咐，我就照你的話做。」

包括西庇太的兩個兒子雅各和約翰。耶穌對西門說：「不要怕，從今以後，你將成為得人的漁夫。」於是他們把船靠岸後，撇下一切跟從了耶穌。

耶穌沿著加利利湖邊行走的時候，看見被稱為彼得的西門和安得烈兩兄弟正在撒網打魚，他們是漁夫。耶穌對他們說：「來跟從我！我要使你們成為得人的漁夫。」他們立刻撇下漁網，跟從了耶穌。

所以栽種的和灌溉的都算不得什麼，一切都在於使之生長的上帝。

一群先知對以利沙說：「你看，我們住的地方實在太小了。請讓我們去約旦河吧，我們每人都可以從那裡砍一根木頭蓋房子居住。」以利沙說：「你們去吧。」其中一人請以利沙一起去，以利沙答應了，便和他們一起去約旦河砍伐樹木。有個人砍樹的時候，斧頭掉進了水裡。他大喊：「唉！師傅，這把斧頭是借來的。」上帝的僕人問：「斧頭掉在哪裡了？」他就指給以利沙看。以利沙砍了一根樹枝拋進水裡，斧頭便浮了上來。以利沙說：「你去拿上來吧！」他便伸手拿起了斧頭。

你們自己知道應該怎樣效法我們，因為我們在你們那裡的時候，並沒有懶懶散散，也沒有白吃誰的飯，而是晝夜辛勤工作，免得成為你們任何人的負擔。我們並不是沒有權利接受供應，而是要給你們樹立學習的榜樣。

你們都知道，我親手做工養活自己和同工。

難道只有我和巴拿巴要自食其力嗎？

弟兄姊妹，你們一定記得我們的勞苦和艱難。我們一面向你們傳福音，一面晝夜辛勤工作，免得成為你們任何人的負擔。

他們夫婦跟保羅是同行，都以製造帳篷為業，保羅就留下來和他們同住，一起做工。
