Now know we that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

Jesus answereth, Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

So when they had broken their fast, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.He saith to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Tend my sheep.

And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto each one of you according to your works.

For though I made you sorry with my epistle, I do not regret it: though I did regret it( for I see that that epistle made you sorry, though but for a season),I now rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye were made sorry unto repentance; for ye were made sorry after a godly sort, that ye might suffer loss by us in nothing.For godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation, a repentance which bringeth no regret: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.For behold, this selfsame thing, that ye were made sorry after a godly sort, what earnest care it wrought in you, yea what clearing of yourselves, yea what indignation, yea what fear, yea what longing, yea what zeal, yea what avenging! In everything ye approved yourselves to be pure in the matter.

For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you- ward.

And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow this day thou shalt deny me thrice.And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith unto them, Whom seek ye?

Doth not he see my ways, And number all my steps?If I have walked with falsehood, And my foot hath hasted to deceit( Let me be weighed in an even balance, That God may know mine integrity);

This is now, beloved, the second epistle that I write unto you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by putting you in remembrance;

And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.

For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.

I, Jehovah, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich.

The Mighty One, God, Jehovah, the Mighty One, God, Jehovah, he knoweth; and Israel he shall know: if it be in rebellion, or if in trespass against Jehovah( save thou us not this day),

For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.

Jehovah ministereth judgment to the peoples: Judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and to mine integrity that is in me.Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous: For the righteous God trieth the minds and hearts.

For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be made sorry, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.But if any hath caused sorrow, he hath caused sorrow, not to me, but in part( that I press not too heavily) to you all.Sufficient to such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the many;so that contrariwise ye should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow.

And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show of these two the one whom thou hast chosen,

And God, who knoweth the heart, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us;

Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? thou art come unto me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son!

Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; Thou hast tried me, and findest nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

And after a little while they that stood by came and said to Peter, Of a truth thou also art one of them; for thy speech maketh thee known.Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And straightway the cock crew.And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.But whoso hath the world’s goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him?My little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth.Hereby shall we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before him:because if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we have boldness toward God;and whatsoever we ask we receive of him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he gave us commandment.And he that keepeth his commandments abideth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.

I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, that are present here, offer willingly unto thee.

Peter therefore denied again: and straightway the cock crew.

But Jesus did not trust himself unto them, for that he knew all men,and because he needed not that any one should bear witness concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials,

If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.
