不是顯現給全體民眾，而是顯現給神預先選定的見證人，就是我們這些在他從死人中復活以後，與他一起吃、一起喝的人。

正在這時，他的門徒們回來了。他們見耶穌與一個婦人一同說話，就感到驚奇。只是沒有人問「你想要什麼？」或「你為什麼與她說話？」

雅各問他說：「請把你的名字告訴我。」那人說：「為什麼要問我的名字呢？」他就在那裡祝福了雅各。雅各就給那地方起名為毗努伊勒，因為他說：「我面對面看見了神，但我的性命得以保住。」

可是門徒們不明白這話，又不敢問他。

耶穌知道他們想要問他，就對他們說：「我剛才說『過一會兒，你們就看不到我了；再過一會兒，你們又將見到我』，你們就為了這話彼此議論嗎？

可是他們不明白這話，因為這話的意思對他們是隱藏的，使他們不能領悟。他們也不敢問耶穌這話的意思。

大家吃完早飯後，耶穌就問西門彼得：「約翰的兒子西門，你愛我勝過這些嗎？」彼得說：「是的，主啊！你知道我喜愛你。」耶穌對他說：「餵養我的小羊。」
