In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel( which means‘ God is with us’).

Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith: Christ was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.

Then the disciples worshiped him.“ You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.

so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him.

And they sang a new song with these words:“ You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.”Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders.And they sang in a mighty chorus:“ Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered— to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang:“ Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.”And the four living beings said,“ Amen!” And the twenty four elders fell down and worshiped the Lamb.

As they stoned him, Stephen prayed,“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”He fell to his knees, shouting,“ Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.

In that day the people will proclaim,“ This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us! This is the Lord, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!”

Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.

So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy.

“ Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out,“ Rabboni!”( which is Hebrew for“ Teacher”).

But I cried to him,“ O my God, who lives forever, don’t take my life while I am so young!Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands.They will perish, but you remain forever; they will wear out like old clothing. You will change them like a garment and discard them.But you are always the same; you will live forever.The children of your people will live in security. Their children’s children will thrive in your presence.”

“ For the time is coming,” says the Lord,“ when I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David’s line. He will be a King who rules with wisdom. He will do what is just and right throughout the land.And this will be his name:‘ The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’ In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety.

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.Please, Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success.Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord.The Lord is God, shining upon us. Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the altar.You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you!

“ Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

O Zion, messenger of good news, shout from the mountaintops! Shout it louder, O Jerusalem. Shout, and do not be afraid. Tell the towns of Judah,“ Your God is coming!”Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.

For your royal husband delights in your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.

When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked,“ Do you believe in the Son of Man?”The man answered,“ Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him.”“ You have seen him,” Jesus said,“ and he is speaking to you!”“ Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshiped Jesus.
