So then the Jewish leaders responded,“ What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”

猶太人曰、爾既為此、則以何異蹟示我、

猶太人謂之曰、爾既為此、以何異跡示我、

而猶太人質詢之曰：『爾之為此、亦能示我以靈徵否？』

The Jews then responded to him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”

Then the Jewish leaders asked him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do this?”

So the Jews said to him,“ What sign do you show us for doing these things?”

But the Jewish leaders demanded,“ What are you doing? If God gave you authority to do this, show us a miraculous sign to prove it.”

So the Jews replied to him,“ What sign will you show us for doing these things?”

The Jews then said to Him,“ What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?”

So the Jews answered and said to Him,“ What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”

The Jews therefore answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

So the Jews replied to Him,“ What sign of authority will You show us for doing these things?”

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

The Jews therefore answered him,“ What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?”

So they said to him,“ Then what miraculous sign will you perform, so that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?

saying,“ We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name. Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood on us!”

They came again to Jerusalem. While Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the experts in the law, and the elders came up to himand said,“ By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

Then some of the experts in the law along with some Pharisees answered him,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”But he answered them,“ An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.For just as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish for three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.The people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them– and now, something greater than Jonah is here!The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon– and now, something greater than Solomon is here!

After making Peter and John stand in their midst, they began to inquire,“ By what power or by what name did you do this?”

Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for a sign from heaven to test him.

Now when the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.He said,“ When evening comes you say,‘ It will be fair weather, because the sky is red,’and in the morning,‘ It will be stormy today, because the sky is red and darkening.’ You know how to judge correctly the appearance of the sky, but you cannot evaluate the signs of the times.A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then he left them and went away.

Now one day, as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and the experts in the law with the elders came upand said to him,“ Tell us: By what authority are you doing these things? Or who it is who gave you this authority?”

As the crowds were increasing, Jesus began to say,“ This generation is a wicked generation; it looks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.

So they asked John,“ Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

Now after Jesus entered the temple courts, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said,“ By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”
