The Jews then said to Him,“ What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?”

因此犹太人问他说：“你既做这些事，还显什么神迹给我们看呢？”

於是那些猶太人問耶穌說：「你做這些事，有什麼權柄的憑據給我們看呢？」

猶太人曰、爾既為此、則以何異蹟示我、

猶太人曰、爾既為此、以何異跡示我、

猶太人謂之曰、爾既為此、以何異跡示我、

而猶太人質詢之曰：『爾之為此、亦能示我以靈徵否？』

The Jews then responded to him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”

Then the Jewish leaders asked him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do this?”

So the Jews said to him,“ What sign do you show us for doing these things?”

But the Jewish leaders demanded,“ What are you doing? If God gave you authority to do this, show us a miraculous sign to prove it.”

So the Jews replied to him,“ What sign will you show us for doing these things?”

So the Jews answered and said to Him,“ What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”

The Jews therefore answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

So the Jews replied to Him,“ What sign of authority will You show us for doing these things?”

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

So then the Jewish leaders responded,“ What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”

The Jews therefore answered him,“ What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?”

So they said to Him,“ What then are You doing as a sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work are You performing?

saying,“ We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this Man’s blood upon us.”

And they* came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple area, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders* came to Him,and began saying to Him,“ By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?”

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”But He answered and said to them,“ An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign; and so no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet;for just as Jonah was in the stomach of the sea monster for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

When they had placed them in the center, they began to inquire,“ By what power, or in what name, have you done this?”

And the Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, demanding from Him a sign from heaven, to test Him.

The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and putting Jesus to the test, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.But He replied to them,“ When it is evening, you say,‘ It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’And in the morning,‘ There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but are you unable to discern the signs of the times?An evil and adulterous generation wants a sign; and so a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.

On one of the days while He was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders confronted Him,and they declared, saying to Him,“ Tell us by what authority You are doing these things, or who is the one who gave You this authority?”

Now as the crowds were increasing, He began to say,“ This generation is a wicked generation; it demands a sign, and so no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.

They asked him, and said to him,“ Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

When He entered the temple area, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said,“ By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?”
