耶稣还在和众人说话的时候，祂的母亲和兄弟站在外面，想要跟祂说话。

耶稣的弟弟们对祂说：“离开这里，去犹太过节吧，好让你的门徒在那里也看见你所做的啊！因为人想出名，都不会暗地里行事，你既然可以做这些事，就把自己显给世人看吧！”原来连祂的弟弟们也不信祂。

他们进城后，来到楼上自己住的房间。当时有彼得、约翰、雅各、安得烈、腓力、多马、巴多罗买、马太、亚勒腓的儿子雅各、激进党人西门、雅各的儿子犹大。他们和耶稣的母亲玛丽亚、耶稣的弟弟们及几个妇女在一起同心合意地恒切祷告。

难道我们没有权利像主的兄弟、彼得和其他使徒一样，娶信主的姊妹为妻，一同出入吗？

我也见了主耶稣的弟弟雅各，此外没有见过其他使徒。

这不是那木匠的儿子吗？祂母亲不是玛丽亚吗？祂的弟弟不是雅各、约瑟、西门和犹大吗？祂的妹妹们不也是住在我们这里吗？祂究竟从哪里得来这一身本领呢？”

“迦百农啊，你将被提升到天上吗？不！你将被打落到阴间。因为若把在你那里所行的神迹行在所多玛，它肯定会存留到今天。

上了船，去湖对岸的迦百农。天色已暗，耶稣还没到他们那里。
