and he went back into the governor’s residence and said to Jesus,“ Where do you come from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

and he went back inside the palace.“ Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.

and he entered the Praetorium again and* said to Jesus,“ Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

and went again into the Praetorium, and said to Jesus,“ Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

and he entered into the Prætorium again, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

He went back into the headquarters and asked Jesus,“ Where are You from?” But Jesus did not give him an answer.

And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus,“ Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

So Pilate went back into the governor’s residence, summoned Jesus, and asked him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”

We know that God has spoken to Moses! We do not know where this man comes from!”The man replied,“ This is a remarkable thing, that you don’t know where he comes from, and yet he caused me to see!

Now the passage of scripture the man was reading was this:“ He was led like a sheep to slaughter, and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.In humiliation justice was taken from him. Who can describe his posterity? For his life was taken away from the earth.”

Jesus answered,“ Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you people do not know where I came from or where I am going.

The woman went and said to her husband,“ A man sent from God came to me! He looked like God’s angelic messenger– he was very awesome. I did not ask him where he came from, and he did not tell me his name.

But when he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he did not respond.Then Pilate said to him,“ Don’t you hear how many charges they are bringing against you?”But he did not answer even one accusation, so that the governor was quite amazed.

He was treated harshly and afflicted, but he did not even open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughtering block, like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not even open his mouth.

But Jesus was silent. The high priest said to him,“ I charge you under oath by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”

Then the chief priests began to accuse him repeatedly.So Pilate asked him again,“ Have you nothing to say? See how many charges they are bringing against you!”But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed.

and by not being intimidated in any way by your opponents. This is a sign of their destruction, but of your salvation– a sign which is from God.

Then Pilate said,“ So you are a king!” Jesus replied,“ You say that I am a king. For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world– to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

But I am like a deaf man– I hear nothing; I am like a mute who cannot speak.I am like a man who cannot hear and is incapable of arguing his defense.Yet I wait for you, O LORD! You will respond, O Lord, my God!
