The Jewish leaders replied,“ We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, because he claimed to be the Son of God!”

The Jewish leaders insisted,“ We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

For this reason the Jewish leaders were trying even harder to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was also calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal with God.

and one who misuses the name of the LORD must surely be put to death. The whole congregation must surely stone him, whether he is a foreigner or a native citizen; when he misuses the Name he must be put to death.

But Jesus was silent. The high priest said to him,“ I charge you under oath by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”Jesus said to him,“ You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared,“ He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now you have heard the blasphemy!What is your verdict?” They answered,“ He is guilty and deserves death.”

who was appointed the Son- of- God- in- power according to the Holy Spirit by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.

do you say about the one whom the Father set apart and sent into the world,‘ You are blaspheming,’ because I said,‘ I am the Son of God’?If I do not perform the deeds of my Father, do not believe me.But if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may come to know and understand that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.”

Now when the centurion, who stood in front of him, saw how he died, he said,“ Truly this man was God’s Son!”

The Father and I are one.”The Jewish leaders picked up rocks again to stone him to death.Jesus said to them,“ I have shown you many good deeds from the Father. For which one of them are you going to stone me?”The Jewish leaders replied,“ We are not going to stone you for a good deed but for blasphemy, because you, a man, are claiming to be God.”

But he was silent and did not answer. Again the high priest questioned him,“ Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”“ I am,” said Jesus,“ and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”Then the high priest tore his clothes and said,“ Why do we still need witnesses?You have heard the blasphemy! What is your verdict?” They all condemned him as deserving death.

“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the king of Israel! If he comes down now from the cross, we will believe in him!He trusts in God– let God, if he wants to, deliver him now because he said,‘ I am God’s Son’!”

Jesus said to them,“ I tell you the solemn truth, before Abraham came into existence, I am!”Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple area.

“ But if any prophet presumes to speak anything in my name that I have not authorized him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die.
