The Jewish leaders insisted,“ We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native- born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death. (niv)

But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him,“ I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.“ But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”Then the high priest tore his clothes and said,“ He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy.What do you think?”“ He is worthy of death,” they answered. (niv)

and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. (niv)

what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said,‘ I am God’s Son’?Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father.But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” (niv)

And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said,“ Surely this man was the Son of God!” (niv)

I and the Father are one.”Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him,but Jesus said to them,“ I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”“ We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied,“ but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” (niv)

“ He saved others,” they said,“ but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’” (niv)

“ Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered,“ before Abraham was born, I am!”At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. (niv)

But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.” (niv)
