That day was the Jewish Preparation Day, and the tomb was nearby. So they placed Jesus there.

Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

There then because of the Jews’ Preparation( for the tomb was nigh at hand) they laid Jesus.

There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation[ day]; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

And so, because it was the Jewish day of preparation and the tomb was nearby, they placed Jesus’ body there.

Then because of the Jews’ Preparation Day( for the tomb was near at hand) they laid Jesus there.

It was about noon on Preparation Day in Passover Week.“ Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

It was Preparation Day. The next day would be a special Sabbath day. The Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath day. So they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

He was given a grave with those who were evil. But his body was buried in the tomb of a rich man. He was killed even though he hadn’t harmed anyone. And he had never lied to anyone.

At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden. A new tomb was there. No one had ever been put in it before.

He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as Scripture said he would be.

My mouth is dried up like a piece of broken pottery. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You bring me down to the edge of the grave.

Many of the Jews read the sign. That’s because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city. And the sign was written in the Aramaic, Latin and Greek languages.

They did everything that had been written about Jesus. Then they took him down from the cross. They laid him in a tomb.

Jonah was in the belly of a huge fish for three days and three nights. Something like that will happen to the Son of Man. He will spend three days and three nights in the grave.

When you were baptized, you were buried together with Christ. And you were raised to life together with him when you were baptized. You were raised to life by believing in God’s work. God himself raised Jesus from the dead.
