Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.

Later Joseph asked Pilate for Jesus’ body. Joseph was from the town of Arimathea. He was a follower of Jesus. But he followed Jesus secretly because he was afraid of the Jewish leaders. After Pilate gave him permission, Joseph came and took the body away.

After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body.

有一个人名叫约瑟，是个议员，为人善良正直，却没有附从别人的所谋所为。他是犹太的亚利马太城人，素常盼望着上帝的国。这人去见彼拉多，请求要耶稣的身体。他把耶稣的身体取下来，用细麻布裹好，安放在凿岩而成的坟墓里；那坟墓从来没有葬过人。那日是预备日，安息日快到了。那些从加利利和耶稣同来的妇女跟在后面，看见了坟墓和他的身体怎样安放。她们就回去，预备了香料香膏。在安息日，她们遵照诫命安息了。

到了晚上，有一个财主，名叫约瑟，是亚利马太来的，他也是耶稣的门徒。这人去见彼拉多，请求要耶稣的身体，彼拉多就吩咐给他。约瑟取了身体，用干净的细麻布裹好，然后把他安放在自己的新墓穴里，就是他凿在岩石里的。他又把大石头滚到墓门口，然后离开。有抹大拉的马利亚和另一个马利亚在那里，对着坟墓坐着。

而且那在主里的弟兄，多半都因我受的捆锁而笃信不疑，越发放胆无所惧怕地传道。

到了晚上，因为这是预备日，就是安息日的前一日，有亚利马太的约瑟前来，他是尊贵的议员，也是盼望着上帝国的，他放胆进去见彼拉多，请求要耶稣的身体。彼拉多诧异耶稣已经死了，就叫百夫长来，问他耶稣是不是死了很久；既从百夫长得知实情，就把耶稣的身体赐给约瑟。约瑟买了细麻布，把耶稣取下来，用细麻布裹好，安放在岩石中凿出来的墓穴里，又滚来一块石头挡住墓门。抹大拉的马利亚和约西的母亲马利亚都看见安放他的地方。

可是没有人公开谈论他，因为他们怕犹太人。

虽然如此，官长中却有好些信他的，只因法利赛人的缘故不敢承认，恐怕被赶出会堂。

他父母说这些话，是怕犹太人，因为犹太人已经商定，若有宣认耶稣是基督的，要把他赶出会堂。

惧怕人的，陷入圈套；惟有倚靠耶和华的，必得安稳。
