Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.

信主之兄弟多人、因我之縲絏增加其信、益毅然傳道而無懼、

是日乃備安息日之日、即安息日前一日、既暮、有亞利瑪太人約瑟來、彼乃尊貴議士、亦素慕天主國者、毅然入見彼拉多、求耶穌之身、彼拉多奇耶穌已死、遂召百夫長、問其已死否、既由百夫長而得其情、遂以耶穌之身賜約瑟、約瑟已市枲布、取之下、以枲布裹之、置於磐中所鑿之墓、又轉石於墓門、抹大拉之瑪利亞、及約西之母瑪利亞皆見其所葬之處、

然無人敢明論之、因懼猶太人也、○

然有司中多有信之、惟因懼法利賽人、不敢明認、恐見逐於會、

其父母言此、懼猶太人故也、蓋猶太人已定議、若有人認耶穌為基督、必逐之出會、

畏人過甚、必陷網羅、惟恃主者必得護衛、
