为这些事做见证、记录这些事的就是那个门徒，我们都知道他的见证是真实的。

论到从太初就已经存在的生命之道，我们曾经耳闻目睹，亲眼看过，亲手摸过。这生命曾显现过，我们看见了，现在做见证，向你们传扬这原本与父同在、曾向我们显现的永恒生命。我们把所见所闻传给你们，使你们可以与我们相交。诚然，我们是与父和祂儿子耶稣基督相交。

你们也要为我做见证，因为你们从开始就与我在一起。

我是基督受苦的见证人，将分享以后所显明的荣耀。我以长老的身份劝你们中间做长老的：

从前写在圣经上的话都是为了教导我们，使我们靠着忍耐和圣经的鼓励而有盼望。

我们若忽略了这么大的救恩，怎能逃避惩罚呢？这救恩首先由主亲口宣讲出来，后来由听见的人向我们证实了。同时，上帝按自己的旨意，用神迹、奇事、各样的异能、圣灵的恩赐和他们一同做见证。

我们亲眼目睹了耶稣在犹太全境和耶路撒冷所做的一切。可是，世人却把祂钉死在十字架上。

而记载这些事的目的是为了使你们相信耶稣就是基督，是上帝的儿子，并且使你们这些信祂的人可以靠祂的名得到生命。

我知道你常常垂听我的祷告。我这样说是为了周围站着的众人，好叫他们相信是你差了我来。”

耶稣看见祂的母亲和祂所爱的门徒都站在旁边，就对母亲说：“妇人，看啊，他是你的儿子。”

“我不但为这些人祈求，也为那些因他们的话而信我的人祈求，使他们都合而为一，正如父你在我里面，我在你里面一样，并且使他们也在我们里面，好让世人相信是你差我来的。

为了你们的缘故，我很高兴自己不在那里，好叫你们信我。现在我们可以去了。”

现在事情还没有发生，我便先告诉你们，到了事情发生的时候，你们就会相信。
