Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath( for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

首日有聖會、毋興作、此七日間、日奉燔祭、以獻我、越至七日、亦有聖會、毋興作。○又曰、告以色列族云、爾至我所賜之地、穫田所產、必取初實之穗一束、奉於祭司、安息日明晨、祭司以之搖於我前、冀蒙悅納、搖穗之日、必取未盈歲之牡羔一、純潔是務、燔以獻我、和油之粉一斗二升、為禮物、燔而獻我、取其馨香、酒二斤有半以為灌奠。圓饅、烘穀、嘉穗、未於其中取而獻我者毋食、以此著為永例、歷代勿替、隨往勿易。自安息日之明晨、搖穗之日、必核七七日、而盈其數、越至五旬、獻禮物於我、以薦其新、

首日必為聖會、七日亦必為聖會、是日勿操作、推備食則可。

爾去我民之皮、而噬其肉、折其骨割之為臠、投之鼎鑊、

明日、即備節之翌日、祭司諸長𠵽唎㘔人集、見彼拉多曰、
