Now it was the day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews,“ Behold your King!”

So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.

And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

“ And if a man has committed a crime punishable by death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall bury him the same day, for a hanged man is cursed by God. You shall not defile your land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.

And he hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening. And at sunset Joshua commanded, and they took his body down from the tree and threw it at the entrance of the gate of the city and raised over it a great heap of stones, which stands there to this day.

And afterward Joshua struck them and put them to death, and he hanged them on five trees. And they hung on the trees until evening.But at the time of the going down of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had hidden themselves, and they set large stones against the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.

Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.

Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him.

On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work.But you shall present a food offering to the Lord for seven days. On the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.And on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb a year old without blemish as a burnt offering to the Lord.And the grain offering with it shall be two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, a food offering to the Lord with a pleasing aroma, and the drink offering with it shall be of wine, a fourth of a hin.And you shall eat neither bread nor grain parched or fresh until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.“ You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering.You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall present a grain offering of new grain to the Lord.

On the first day you shall hold a holy assembly, and on the seventh day a holy assembly. No work shall be done on those days. But what everyone needs to eat, that alone may be prepared by you.

who eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones in pieces and chop them up like meat in a pot, like flesh in a cauldron.
