门徒中有一个人，是耶稣所爱的，侧身挨近耶稣（“侧身挨近耶稣”原文作“在耶稣的胸怀里”）。

耶稣说：“母亲（“母亲”原文作“妇人”），我跟你有什么关系呢？我的时候还没有到。”

她就跑去见西门．彼得，和耶稣所爱的那个门徒，对他们说：“有人把主从坟墓里搬走了，我们不知道他们把他放在哪里。”

耶稣所爱的那门徒对彼得说：“是主！”西门．彼得一听见是主，就立刻束上外衣（因为他当时赤着身子），纵身跳进海里。

彼得转过身来，看见耶稣所爱的那门徒跟着，就是在晚饭的时候，靠着耶稣的胸膛，问“主啊，出卖你的是谁？”的那个人。

为这些事作证，并且记述这些事的，就是这门徒；我们知道他的见证是真实的。
