Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?And you forget the Lord your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth; You have feared continually every day Because of the fury of the oppressor, When he has prepared to destroy. “ And of whom have you been afraid, or feared, That you have lied And not remembered Me, Nor taken it to your heart? Is it not because I have held My peace from of old That you do not fear Me?

Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones? Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?No, in heart you work wickedness; You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

Therefore, when Pilate heard that saying, he was the more afraid,

Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You?They gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood.

If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent perversion of justice and righteousness in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them.
