Pilate asked,“ What is truth?” When he had said this he went back outside to the Jewish leaders and announced,“ I find no basis for an accusation against him.

比辣多應曰：『何謂真理？』言竟復出、而告猶太人曰：『吾未見其罪也。

Again Pilate went out and said to the Jewish leaders,“ Look, I am bringing him out to you, so that you may know that I find no reason for an accusation against him.”

When the chief priests and their officers saw him, they shouted out,“ Crucify him! Crucify him!” Pilate said,“ You take him and crucify him! Certainly I find no reason for an accusation against him!”

Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds,“ I find no basis for an accusation against this man.”

He committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth.When he was maligned, he did not answer back; when he suffered, he threatened no retaliation, but committed himself to God who judges justly.

When Pilate saw that he could do nothing, but that instead a riot was starting, he took some water, washed his hands before the crowd and said,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood. You take care of it yourselves!”

but by precious blood like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ.

( For he knew that they had handed him over because of envy.)As he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a message to him:“ Have nothing to do with that innocent man; I have suffered greatly as a result of a dream about him today.”

While Paul was discussing righteousness, self- control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said,“ Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.”At the same time he was also hoping that Paul would give him money, and for this reason he sent for Paul as often as possible and talked with him.

Now when they heard about the resurrection from the dead, some began to scoff, but others said,“ We will hear you again about this.”

Pilate asked them,“ Why? What has he done wrong?” But they shouted more insistently,“ Crucify him!”

So they took Paul and brought him to the Areopagus, saying,“ May we know what this new teaching is that you are proclaiming?For you are bringing some surprising things to our ears, so we want to know what they mean.”

Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate,“ Do not write,‘ The king of the Jews,’ but rather,‘ This man said, I am king of the Jews.’”Pilate answered,“ What I have written, I have written.”

and said to them,“ You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. When I examined him before you, I did not find this man guilty of anything you accused him of doing.Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, he has done nothing deserving death.I will therefore have him flogged and release him.”
